Shuttle series gets a touch interface

Issue: K in Focus November 2016

Uniloy M-Series Shuttle This unit from Milacron represents the third generation in its M-Series of all-electric shuttle blow molding machines. Designed to produce bottles, containers and technical parts, it can make products with capacities ranging from 3.4 ounces to 7.9 gallons. Users can adjust clamping forces from 13.5 to 45 tons, strokes from 15.7 to 41.3 inches and neck-cutting forces from 1.7 to 4 tons.

What’s new? A new Mosaic+ touch interface, a statistical-processing control to manage production parameters, and a zero-backlash precision gearbox driven by an AC brushless actuator with an absolute encoder for high repeatability.

Benefits Modular design, lower operating costs and clean-room compliance. The system’s new motion design combines reliability with fast cycle times. Also, it uses only 0.12 kilowatt hours per pound of plastic processed. It offers flexibility because it can process most commercially available resins and can be outfitted with options such as multilayer capability, in-mold labeling and aseptic blowing.
